🙂 it is not mine. But I got interested in looking at it, because previously I posted about this ceramic plaque that had an interesting table material/look. It seems like this vase also has it! but instead of blue/white, this one is red/white. so I want to know more about it. what period is this vase most likely from? Thank you!

I have been seeing a lot of these. $1400 is pricey for modern in my opinion you can find antique for that price.
I agree with Birgit. Very nicely painted. The top lip style/design is very typical of early PROC. Hand painted qianlong mark.
Not expensive in my opinion. These 1950's vases depicted well are being sought after. Good size too

I just want to say something about expensive and it’s just my opinion only. I think things like Chinese antique seem to cost more in other places of the world and in the United States items cost is where you live. East Coast cost more than West Coast. $1400 for a modern vase in New York is much different than $1400 in Nebraska. That’s just my opinion
@lotusblack on live auctioneer, I believe people from both coasts bid on things. yeah, I thought 1400 is expensive.
@lotusblack Well, I very much agree that Midwestern mind set regarding money (which is generally verboten as a topic of conversation), but if it were brought up and 1400 for a nineteen-fifties vase came to be known some how, your neighbors would be very concerned regarding your sanity. Sharon
@nyccat I have no experience with online auction. I was always worried about bidding on something I cant see and touch. I’m not experienced enough. I’m speaking more on the consignment and Antique resale and home decors stores. Some estates and yard sales. But yes if a great item was to be auctioned online. I can see bidding world wide. I saw your vase recently in a antique mall in Phoenix it’s was $349 your is $1400 online. Supply and demand I’m sure play equal roles. But I might have to look into the online auctions soon as a I am currently witnessing a lot of competition in my honey holes due to the increased interest in these wares.
In my opinion it's the quality not the fact that it's from a certain decade that determines the price. For the 20th century at least I would recommend to buy the best quality one can afford. It will pay off some day. There's so much Republic and PROC around that there's something to be found for every budget, but we already see what prices are paid for good quality items that are only vintage. I personally would recommed to avoid printed or partly printed stuff and look out for more unusual decorations.

@lotusblack for 300, now that's a good price 😀 ! I didn't buy the vase for 1400 if that's what you are wondering. it's simply not within my budget hahaha
@shinigami That's good advice, but since I seem to have Rosebud syndrome (Citizen Kane) investment plays no part for me. Ceramics are lovely but gold is more readily fungible in a crisis and more easily bartered, supply and demand but true that folk should buy what makes them happy and if someday it pays off, then that's gravy in a highly unusual, sought after gravy boat. @webboy thanks for sharing. I think what he said towards the end... how can he actually control which piece goes to who? like he is implying that he has favors in the bidders when we all know that whoever bid the highest will take the item away.
idk. I have a lot of great respect for him. but there is no preventing people from doing what he said. use the piece as collateral for something else.
