A few weeks ago, I was following an online auction taking place in France and I came across a Khmer bronze Buddha that I liked, of an acceptable size (20cm excluding added wooden base), it was certified as 12th/13h but I am always wary of the descriptions and periods given by auction houses. They very often say bullshit, I'm not even talking about the lack of information on the defects and the photos which sometimes hide them perfectly...
So I rely on my little knowledge and my taste to judge the price I am willing to pay. I should point out that I am keeping certain items but putting others up for sale. The idea is therefore to be able to make a profit in order to be able to buy more and more objects.
This Khmer Buddha, which is completely beyond my knowledge and whose replicas are the majority on the market, would have been a stupid purchase for me. But... It was sold with a certificate of expertise from a prestigious Asian art gallery. A gallery with a very good reputation, it has supplied several major international museums, it exhibits in major international art fairs. She has published books and catalogs, is an expert for French justice, etc. In short, it is a formal certificate which comes from a serious and recognized actor.
This is the element that made me bid on this Buddha. And I got it very well price compared to what I saw on the internet.
I have since collected my purchase and have done some research to find out the market, prices, what is on offer.
I can't find many of these Buddhas on the internet for sale. I looked at Christies, Sothebys, Bonhams and Co. I know that the issue of provenance (looted object, fake object) is essential for these houses and they do not have many of these objects sold.
I wonder, what would be the best way to sell my Buddha? Ebay or a Zacke-style auction house or something else. And do you know the market for Khmer objects?
Should I keep the Buddha as an investment because the passage of time makes these objects rarer.?

@crazy-frenchy I own a couple of genuine Khmer objects. Concerning the "is it looted?" question. You can get an authentification, that it is not stolen or looted here:
My experience says, don't sell it on Ebay! Find a good auctionhouse like Milon (you are in France?) for example.
And please let us see your Buddha and post a picture 😉

For the stolen objects database, I meant objects looted from ancient Cambodian sites, not stolen here.
As you know, France has been very involved in the interest of Cambodian art and we will never be able to know the history, the purchase and sale behind my buddha.
Because we are not talking about a stone sculpture that was taken from a temple and whose provenance could be linked or a masterworks artifact.

About the looting: The Artloss Database provides an authentification, that nobody is looking for the bronze you own. It still could be looted somewhere. But at least you can show, that nobody has archived a "lost" Buddha.
