Hello All
I have read online that the glaze of Song dynasty Jian tea bowls have what looks like 'gold dust' and so I purchased a 30x loupe with built in led lights so as to check the glaze of my Jian tea bowls. I found that they have what seems to be this 'gold dust', but I have been unable to find any online examples of magnified close ups of Jian ware for comparison, so it has occurred to me that if members of this forum were able to post photographs of magnified close ups of different glaze types an additional resource could be achieved.
I have found that photographing a curved surface is quite difficult so please excuse my photo of my Jian tea bowl, but it seems a lot easier to take these photos of a flat surface. I have attached some magnified close ups along with a standard close up of my Jian tea bowl and my Song dynasty Longquan guan-type dish and perhaps these could be the start of numerous images being posted on this forum.
If there is already a similar online resource please can a link be posted. I know that some of the images on the Christie's website show good close ups of glaze, but perhaps a larger number of photos could be interesting.

From what I know the glaze on Jian ware has been mastered by the fakers and reproducers of Song ceramics, The base and foot can give better clues. But a nice idea which could turn out to be an interesting thread.

My main suggestion is to try and achieve an archive showing the different glazes, but from my point of view comparisons of Jian ware would be handy.
