I wanted to share along this centerpiece I added to our family collection over the past summer. I purchased it off a marketplace user who had no information about it, and left it for a porch pickup for about $15.
The figural motif is of a dragon and Phoenix under an arch, to represent protection. This is the gist I know of the motif at hand, but more information is welcomed. The piece itself measures somewhere towards 11.5 inches, 6.1" tall, guessing around .35" thick, maybe more. Framed with in a thick museum glass quality solid wood frame with linen matting, gold across the trim of the mat and an optional choice of either a oriental hinge or wall wire to hang with.
We currently hang this in our living room. This was one of my first purchases of jade furnishings as well.
In addition, here's a couple of pieces which were well-done finds for their value. One is a double-phoenix blue celadon pendant with russet design, Circa 1800-1850s, sold for $400 on resale. Has some mineral reaction due to being buried.
The other is a moss green and snow white double bat surrounding a coin. Considered as a luck rubbing charm I've adopted for my thrifting. Piece originates from either late 19th or early 20th century. Superstition sounds crazy at first until you start getting more results I guess, but I'm a bit of a believer with it.
To me, who knows nothing about jade, they look very nice. I hope Mark looks in and can tell us more about them.
ARCHAIC jade's are difficult to authentic if well carved especially by way of a few pictures. This would need to be examined in person. However based on what I can see I would be sceptical if it was a genuine carving. I am always suspicious of perfect curves and circles.
The second carving is imo modern
The third one looks to be jadeite jade and may be late Qing.

@imperialfinegems thank you for looking Mark! For the large piece, I have more photos but its mainly through my phones camera over the glass, limited lighting, and a better analysis would be done in person or a detached frame first. Although having to undo the whole frame is what holds up this process for me yet as I'm not prepared to reset it afterwards. So far I've had the virtual appraisal suggestion, then an in person buyer come out and assess it which they deemed it to be quality and of the period (per exposition beforehand, not their own deduction). It's an exciting item either way, but it still has a small way to go before I can establish some form of historical data with it. Better than how it started at least.
The amulet, although it's a shame but not surprising that it is more modern. Pretty piece either way at least.
The charm, at least it appears genuine to the time period and that makes me happier to hold onto it now. I'm probably just going to delist it now.
Well it certainly is a nice shadowboxed framing job, which would have been expensive, so even if not ancient (only thing I know about jade is whether or not I think it is attractive), in that regard give yourself a hug, you did well. Sharon
Sorry, at least the first framed dragon is not from Warring States period or Han, i.e, it's new. A genuine piece like that would cost you thousands of dollars at least, if lucky.
by the way, the third one is brand new.
and we don;t need a jade expert to discern that. It is not a high-fake.
The second one is 95 per cent chance new too, sorry about that.
