I’ve been wondering whether to become a Global Auction Member. My thinking is that it might be a very good resource that could help me develop my knowledge. So I was wondering if any forum members have joined? If so, what do you think of it?

As Carl points out, it is a bargain price for such a comprehensive resource but, as Vic suggests, it could cause laziness and actually stunt the learning process?
My other reservation is wondering about the cost of these items. I can look through the old auction catalogues to see stunning pieces that are way beyond my personal budget. So why would I want to torture myself by looking at these items every day? 😉But maybe I’m making an assumption about the general cost of the featured pieces?
Even if some of the pieces are affordable, if they’re outside the EU the import taxes etc. will be horrendous. After the 31st of January I may not be able to buy from the EU either! 😱

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to share a few thoughts on the Global Member Pages, and why we decided to add it, how we pick the auctioneers we do and do not pick. In the process we've created I think a very Democratic process based solely on MERIT. If we've missed some sellers here and there it's not at all intentional.
The auction items we opt to feature are not based on a specific short list or any list at all that would ignore by default a good auctioneer we are not familiar with. The process is pretty fluid, just as it is on our selections from eBay sellers. While we cannot find every last items of merit all the time, we do en-devour to be very fair and open to new sellers/auctioneers on all pages.
Every week we get emails and calls from buyers and sellers suggesting items and auctioneers for inclusion. We always check them out and if they look good to us, we will include them on the appropriate pages. We even include good looking items from sellers we might personally not be too fond of for one reason or another personally, however a good item is a good item regardless of source.
The Global Pages are truly an expansion of what we've always done with eBay and later with the addition of CATAWIKI and on our YouTube videos, but with much more content. To further that end, we'll be adding a form for subscribers to suggest auctions or auctioneers we've missed. We like input, much of Bidamount's content evolved from ideas and suggestions from users.
As Part of our own filtering process over the years we built a data base of several hundred Auctioneers resulting with our "Report Card" of auction houses on Liveauctioneers, Invaluable and Bidsquare. So we opted to add it onto the Global Pages as an aide for users contemplating a purchase on one of the sites.
Our goal is simply to keep broadening the site's scope and scale to create as much of a useful environment for our users/community as we can. We have done what we have only because nobody else was when we began with just one page of handpicked eBay items over 10 years ago.
