if anyone could confirm this for me, I am trying to be certain whether this plate is transferware, or not, though I think it very well may be. Of course I have zero interest in transferware, but here is the link:
thank you so much for any help with this!
best regards,
Charlotte
Yes, transferware, but pretty, the number on old listings, one for 2,000 yen and other listings on Google Lens, pretty safe to say transferware. Sharon
P.S. one previously listed on Ebay for 71.00, but not sure if it sold or not. 2,000 yen is about 12.00, too many examples to not be transferware most likely. I do like the crane, but not for 199.00. Thanks for posting, pretty slow on here, enjoy your holiday.
@sharonp By the way Sharon, I hadn't known about Google Lens! I have just tried getting the app onto my iPad, but it's next to impossible. They want access to all of my photos, which of course I do not want them to have. And then they ask for other weird things that I don't know how to do. Do you have any suggestions that would make it easier to install? Is there a way to do it directly online? I tried, but it wouldn't accept anything from me. Ugh! I'm pretty old, as in 70 soon, my health is poor, and I'm not good with technology...Don't worry if there's no easy explanation...I'll just give up and it'll be okay...Thanks so much, Sharon
@charlotte Your guess is as good as mine, I kept hitting deny access to your photos, although I don't have any photos on Google. I do not do or want to do any social networks, so I do not have any photos for them to worry about, my husband set it up for me and now neither of us remember how other than and I quote, "I googled how to set up Google Lens." 🤣 They do from time-to- time continue with pop-up message about your photos and I keep hitting deny. A happy and safe 4th of July! I hope you continue getting better, you will always be younger than we.
Oh Sharon, you are so kind, and I am most grateful...Thank you! I see that you had challenges with it as well. Oh well...best for me to keep it simple in life...🙏🏻💕
Dear Charlotte and Sharon,
May I take pride in being the eldest Forum member as well as having served both the US and Taiwan governments in defending Taiwan, Republic of China years 53-54 (1965-1966).

Its a nice large plate. Just short of being a charger at 12".
Some Japanese transferware is exceptionally well done and very difficult to tell from a few pictures.
Personally I am inclined to think it is transfer ware but I could be wrong.
Mark
@imperialfinegems Goodness knows I can be wrong. I imagine you are having lovely cool weather about now, miserable here.
@gfhandel Very impressive George! You may certainly take pride in those accomplishments! I must say that almost 70 isn't old for a lot of people. The issue is that I feel like I'm 110 🤪 because my health is so poor...However, I am so happy I found Peter Combs and all of you Asian Art lovers. I don't find them easily among my friends, even those who are lovers of antiques. They seem not to know how much they're missing!
@imperialfinegems Oh Mark, thank you so much for weighing in! I appreciate your opinion SO much. I think you are correct in thinking it is transferware, and I am now firmly convinced that it is. It is well done, but I wouldn't ever want to buy a piece of transfer no matter how well done it could be, so I appreciate that all of you agreed that it is mostly likely exactly that! I wouldn't even be able to appreciate it in any way even though it's well done...So glad I didn't buy it - phew!
Yes, The Forum has certainly helped with my therapy and improving health. Hope it helps you as well.
George
