Hello all, I have been quarantined now and missing my treasure hunting, so I got out today first chance I got. Went to my usual haunt and voila! Beautiful treasures.
Can anyone please help me in identifying anything in these marks. The bowl is pristine and very light weight like an eggshell. The vase is so nice, but sadly it had been repaired. (and not well). So it is a display piece.
Opinions? Origins? And are they famille rose.?

Anything with pink enamels is usually termed 'famille rose' so yes these are , but I think these could be Japanese , not sure, but the raised black dot background looks like you see on satsuma ware and as far as I can see these are threee toed /clawed dragons, which again are more often found on Japanese items. The marks are so blurred that I can't make out any of the characters - the inscription could either be Japanese or Chinese (no unique Japanese hirigana /katakana, it's all in kanji/hanzi)

I have been looking at these for a bit this morning and agree with Tam. I think they are Japanese. My reasons are very similar: the black dots, the dragon claws and some of the characters look more like they were written by a Japanese hand although I can't really explain why - spidery, less compact, something like that. The base and appearance of the porcelain looks Japanese.
I did wonder if it might have been one of those eggshell boxed items that the Chinese did, but having checked them out, the quality is less good and the insides are also decorated so that they look good in the box. I will stick with my feeling of Japanese and I think made some time in the later 20th c.
The foot rim is glazed isn't it?

The interior of the bowl is lovely. They are interesting, you chose well.
P.S. The interior seems to have a light blue tone to me, but that may just be the photo, still lovely if fine bright white, does it have gilding or light brown around the top? I am envious of your orange dragon.
Yes the foot rim is glazed. I agree the characters look more japanese, but the dragons have 4 claws.

the inside is terribly dusty. I still need to clean it. And yes there is gold gilding on the rim of both pieces and some going on the dragons tails

Thanks Davina, I thought it looked glazed. It could well be Chinese but it seems so much more nicely done much of the modern eggshell I have seen.
Japanese dragons can have more than 3 claws, it was the style though that caught my eye, one looked odd as though it was the wrong way round but now I look again, I am not sure. I get easily confused about what is left and right. 😊
You are lucky you can get out to look for things. I don't think we will get that pleasure for a few more weeks. I know it is for the best, but I do miss it.

@julia, no problem at all, April is my name after all, and I have been signing April, so it’s fine. Yes I live in a small rural area, and most flea markets and antique stores have not opened up yet, but a couple of them have. I splurged on these pieces even though they were affordable, I felt they would look lovely in my lighted cabinet, and my ultimate justification was all the money I saved NOT going to my regular local spots. I am in healthcare and an essential worker, but everyone healthy so far where I work. I hope where you live you can get out soon as well. As you know, it is good for the soul!
