Hello everyone, I previously exhibited an item from the family collection (an apricot pit). It was bought by the father in 1986 from the daughter of the man who escorted Pu Yi. For a very long time we have been trying to find out information on this bone and understand its path. We reviewed a bunch of photographs in which Pu Yi and his entourage were, but so far there was no trace of this bone anywhere. One expert suggested that the bone could belong to Pu Yi indirectly. That is, he was not the owner, namely the keeper. And the owner was most likely a woman, since the bone depicts Ma Gu, the patroness of women and a child. In general, they believe that the bone is at least the middle of the 19th century. Who can advise on this?

I think your Mala Chain is very nice. The carving is in the style of the 19th century. The chain itself I would say is not as old. The beads, tassel and cord look pretty much new, I can't make out any wear.
Looking at the "Apricot Stone" carving, I think the color is very dark for an apricot stone. I think it looks a lot like Rhinoceres Horn! But without handeling I can't tell 🤷

Hello, do not pay attention to the rope with beads. I did this about four months ago for my mother, who unfortunately died a month ago ... And the bone always lay without a rope.
I now have a goal to find out the history of this item, its first owner. Although it is very difficult to find out
I don't want to disappoint you but Chinese sellers are notorious for making up stories to sell their items.Â

I don’t understand which Chinese sellers you are talking about), but this item is not for sale, although we were offered different amounts. And the item was not bought in China) we are from Russia and the bone was bought in Russia in 1986 from a military family. And the bone is really very beautiful. Looks even better live

Its a most remarkable carving.
It's a ambitious task trying to determine it's original owner or provenance without supporting documents.
Carving such as Jade's were carved in the imperial workshop in Beijing for use by the imperial family and or higher ranking official within the imperial court.
When Pu Yi was evicted from the imperial forbidden city he was allowed to retain a vast number of items including but not limited to Jade's and porcelain.
A large amount of said items were traded for political favours and sold for daily support of expenses etc. A large amount were gifted for various reasons. He had a large entourage to support.
From memory when Pu Yi was captured/arrested by the Russian army he and his immediate family/others were caught with large amounts of booty. Including a well documented complicated Patek Philippe watch that was recently sold.
Some of this booty was traded/other with the Russian army officers. Later some of the people caught were sent back to China for reeducation.

Thank you very much for your answer! Yes, the carving of our bone, according to many, is very amazing! I'm trying to learn more about the movement of this bone. Maybe someday I will be able to prove the connection of the bone with the imperial family. I read a lot about the life of Pu Yi and his exported treasures from China. And he really gave items to the Russian military. Therefore, I hope to find information about the bone.
Also contacted the palace museum. They say that Pu Yi did indeed have bones in his safe. When he ruled in Manchukuo, he even sent a man with a key to the forbidden city to take some art from the safe. As a result, the Russians later captured Pu Yi, and the carved bones and other works of art from the safe entered the museum. And now they are in the palace museum in Taipei
And our bone color is closer to burgundy red. Very beautiful shade Photos do not convey the beauty of the color
