I appreciate the help, I will look into 18th/19th rather than 17th/18th..... I just had to look he was only $250.... haha crazy, I totally thought I'd have spent more. It was kinda a last minute deal on a bunch of things at the sale. I think the lot with the scroll weight and some other stuff was double that, there was of course so random Japanese pieces on my bill... I couldn't help myself.

Hey Folks,

I probably should put these in the ID section but at least the unknown one, but he's going to be living with me for a while so I suppose I will eventually find a comp.

I scooped up a bunch of bronzes at a local auction a few weeks ago, the big lion was listed as Japanese, but I am fairly certain it is 17th/18th century Chinese.

The small lion is a scroll weight, still some gilding there as well as a few dings and dents, for which I have found three comps, and he is 17th century, Ming/Qing. He is cool and seemingly valuable, but my heart is in the other... who for some reason I can only refer to as "big boy", I hope he doesn't mind the name.

Big boy is ferocious, and yet sorta cute, gilt splashed bronze. There are possibly a few repairs to it, and definitely quite a bit of wear to the most exposed areas. But dang he has a heck of a tail, and very imposing teeth.

He's pretty large at 30cm long, and roughly 24cm high. The weight is ~6.2cm as are the comps.

If anyone has any ideas on Big boy feel free to let me know. And I'll add to this if I find anything else out about them.

Cheers,
