It's just under 10". Maybe the finest Kutani I've seen in person. Are the foo lions sniffing each other or playing? Or fighting? It's Meiji, correct? There is no crackle to the glaze and the paste is very white.

The figurine depicts a Chinese man. It's not mine, but a friend of mine bought a collection back in the late 1980s, and this figurine was in it. When I saw it, I immediately liked it and asked him if he thought it was unusual. It's unusual. The figurine is only 4.5 cm in size. I think it's glazed. The glaze is a soft blue-white, very beautiful. He thinks it's Chinese, but I think it's European. It's reminiscent of Staffordshire figurines from the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Some people suggest that it is blanc de chine I'd like to get to the bottom of this.

The instructions said you do not have to polish, just apply and wait and then rinse. Well, it did a very fine job, but I thought I was going to pass out from the smell, which must be what Hell smells like, all sulphury rotten egg smell. I have a little filigree silver tea cover and stand from Indonesia that my husband brought back to me in the eighties, which was incredibly tarnished and the silver cream polish did not really work very well, plus left residue. I asked my husband to take it outside please and immerse it in a bucket with the Tarn-X and pour it out on the side of the driveway, not on the grass and then hose the bucket. It worked like a charm. Here it is displaying the cup I bought as Chinese Export and broke when it was displayed with the saucer. The saucer is fine, but I had to use Milliput to repair and then sand the repair (thank it Birgit). I'm now aware that it is Hall from England after Julia's kind post about Hall patterns inspired by Chinese Export. This stuff works well, but I suggest you wear a mask.
