Julia, I believe it is at the top right of the first image, second column from the left. I am trying to learn to read dates, but usually have to have a printed "cheat sheet" handy.

I can't see the date ji wei on the painting; I hoped having been told it is there, that I would be able to find it, but I do find them hard to spot. However, if that is the correct date, it would seem to refer to 1979.

and the second as 

  • (慣/橫?)彈瑤琴作新聲 Playing the qin (that I am used to) to make a new song.

  • 己未年 雪芹 Year Jiwei, by Xueqin

  • Seal: 芹 Qin

I have no clue of their actual age or origin. Anyone have any ideas?
