<p>Sorry It took me a month to come back to this post and add to it... summer is flying by.</p>
<p>Your horse appears to be Northern Wei, though I would prefer a side profile shot.  The Grey paste is to be expected for Wei pottery and the red is usually cold paint on top.  The scraping and the cloth impression on the base is also pretty standard for Wei pottery, I would suggest you have that handled by someone who specializes in these to confirm.  Also I suggest a spray test to see f it was repaired or how well it absorbs water, spritz lightly it should soak right up.... just do not soak it so it doesn't fall apart if repaired.... the repaired areas may not absorb water as well.</p>
<p>The one at the MIA is northern Wei.</p>
<p>Potentially this is a really great piece.</p>

<p>I fear it is not a Tang Horse. The claybody appears to be to dark for this period. Usually the terracotta has a reddish color to it. The inside seems to be laced with mud, to make it appear older.</p>
<p>But it is hard to tell with pieces like this. Only a Thermo-Luminesence Test (TL-Test) gives you assurance about its age.</p>
