Dear Stephen,

As the other Forum members here have said, your vase isn't Kangxi mark and period, and this for a combination of reasons. A few of these are: its shape and proportion; the particular glaze colour; the foot rim; and the incised reign mark. These don't stack up for a piece that is mark and period. I'd also say that I'm personally not aware of any Kangxi green glaze monochromes bearing incised six-character reign marks on them.

In any event, it's an attractive display piece, and I hope you will enjoy owning it.

Thank you very much for the insights, much appreciated. I'm having a hard time finding anything similar on the internet. The green glazed wares themselves seem uncommon, especially for a vase this size and shape and I can't find a Kangxi inscription being glazed over like this anywhere.

@trdn The area of identifying Imperial Chinese antiques is vast and complex. It takes a great deal of study and some hands on experience to even begin to develop a sense of it. I agree with the others this is likely 20th century. I would doubt Kangxi revival but I suppose it could be a possibility but not likely. The color isn't right for Kangxi. The quality is not close for Imperial wares of any period - glaze imperfections are just one obvious reason why. Also, I am not sure if a comp for this combo of size shape color and with an incised mark even exists in the archive of Kangxi m&p pieces. I would recommend you watch all of Peter's videos going back to the inception of his YouTube channel, read lots of books, study major auction results and look at museum collections. That will get you started.

I agree with Steve. Late Qing Kangxi revival is also an option. But it's not Kangxi, because the 6 character mark was used only for imperial ware during Kangxi and is usually a sign of Kangxi revival or later.

I have a 44cm, 17.3 inch High Apple-green monochrome glazed vase with fine-mesh crackle, featuring an incised six-character Kangxi mark on a glazed base, and a stepped foot ring that feels smooth and soft to the touch. Refined white clay body with visible wood-kiln pinpricks.
