Yes it might be printed. On closer examination the rim pattern doesn't look handpainted. Then it's either Chinese from the second half of the 20th century or it's Japanese.

The pattern is both gaudy and unusual and I agree with @julia that it could be printed.

Personally I would not touch this.

I think the interior may be printed outlines, possibly the border, too: there are uncomfortable spacings in the border design which could be to facilitate easier, more flowing pattern placement.

To me it looks like a later version of the canton pattern. Probably early 20th century.

Hi what would you say about the age of this dish it a very deep blue, it is 25.5 cm long 19cm wide 2cm high. Thank you for your help Dom
