Definitely elephant ivory.

Depicting Shou-lou the immortal.

I believe that it's a Chinese carving circa 1960's or there abouts.

Nice carving.

Not a netsuke.

Always keep a small bowl of clean water nearby to prevent cracking.

Hi All, I found this handsome fellow at the local high school swap meet. He appears to be be made of bone or ivory and has some sort of makers mark on the foot. All my searches want it to be a netsuke, but it does not have any holes for that use. I am curious if anyone has any clues on the age, maker, and what the broken bit in his right hand might have been?
