On my opinion the jade carving are 20th Century and I doubt very much that the box itself is hongmu wood.

I don't know a lot about jade or wood, but I don't trust jade that has those brown lines. I may be wrong, but I wouldn't buy this at that price.

@sharonp they aren't tested so unsure. The inclusions might suggests serpentine though so if not soapstone then maybe this which would support that age for sure. Appreciate the bump!

@pbarski93 Are you sure it is jade? I really do not know, but if it is jade and not soapstone like the inlaid boxes that were produced in the eighties out of Hong Kong, then perhaps even if not earlier than 20th century. In any case, here's a boost, the pictures enlarge well.

Hey all,

I have a purchasing offer of a little over $200 for this box. I'm interested in it if it's older than the 20th century, but not so much if not. I think the jade may be machine tooled but I'm unsure based on the photos. It's around 12x10.5x3 inches, weighs around 4.56lbs.

Curious to know what others think first.
