Many thanks gentlemen for your suggestions! It does appear like a Tenmoku glaze, so I will be looking in that direction for research. That was actually an opportunistic purchase. I didn't pay some money to acquire it, but way less than what its normal price would be. Or so it seems so far. So quite happy about it. :)

Hello Evangelos,

Looking at the body showing at the base it looks like high fired stoneware not porcelain. The glaze looks like Tenmoku . Tenmoku comes in blue, white, and brown with black patches. Maybe you should look at Japanese wares in your research.

Definitely reminds me of hare's fur Jian ware, with the reddish/ brownish striations in the black glaze. I would look into Fujian kilns, also Henan Wares. Looks very interesting, I quite like it.

Very nice! Is it black, as it appears to me in the pictures, or does it have a reddish color?

I haven't heard of "cinnabar glaze". Usually cinnabar refers to the typical bright red lacquer.

This looks to me like a black, probably iron oxide glaze. While technically it's a very, very dark brown, they usually appear black.

The foot rim would seem to be Yuan or early Ming, but I'm not familiar with this particular shape. Hopefully others can chime in with some more helpful information.
